Elbert Maxwell Wins Long Jump Championship at Penn Relays
On his last jump of the day, senior Elbert Maxwell (Pittsburgh, Pa.) achieved a first. He soared to a distance of 7.62 meters in the long jump and became the first Villanova athlete to win the Championship section of a field event at the historic Penn Relays. Maxwell got off to a good start but did not secure the win until his final attempt. The mark of 7.62 meters represents the second-longest jump of his career.
Wildcats Conclude Regular Season with 6-5 Defeat at Providence
The Villanova Wildcats suffered a 6-5 defeat to the Providence Friars on Saturday afternoon at Lennon Family Field to conclude the regular season portion of their 2015 schedule.
Wildcats Show Resilience in Game Two vs. DePaul
In game two of their doubleheader with the DePaul Blue Demons, the Villanova Wildcats were defeated by a score of 5-3. The `Cats were trailing 5-1 but came back to make it 5-3 on a Lauren Herschberg homer and then loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh inning but they were unable to come back and tie it up. With the loss the Wildcats season record falls to 22-26, 8-9 BIG EAST while DePaul improves to 19-21, 10-3 BIG EAST.
Baseball Drops Saturday Matinee to St. John's, 10-7
The Villanova baseball team (15-22, 3-5 BIG EAST) dropped its Saturday matinee, 10-7, to St. John's (24-13, 8-2 BIG EAST) as the Red Storm clinched the series. The two squads will close out the series tomorrow, Sunday, April 26 at 1 p.m. from Jack Kaiser Stadium in Queens, N.Y.
Fantastic Four: Wildcats Surge to Fourth Straight DMR Title at Penn Relays
The lineup had changed a bit from last year, the roles were a little unfamiliar and with 150 meters to go before the finish line none of those differences mattered. The execution was perfect and the result was one that Villanova is quite accustomed to. Junior Angel Piccirillo (Homer City, Pa.), junior Michaela Wilkins (Ellicott City, Md.), freshman Siofra Cleirigh Buttner (Dublin, Ireland) and senior Stephanie Schappert (Delray Beach, Fla.) led the Wildcats to their fourth straight Championship of America title in the distance medley relay at the Penn Relays on Thursday evening.
Villanova Men's Tennis Loses Season Finale
In the back draw of the BIG EAST Tennis Tournament the Villanova Wildcats took on the Butler Bulldogs and were defeated by a score of 4-3. With the defeat, the 2015 spring season is now over for the Wildcats.

Wildcats Place Second in Close Finish to Distance Medley Relay at Penn Relays
In the final lap of the Championship of America distance medley relay, Villanova and Oregon pulled away from the rest of the field in a thrilling head-to-head finish. Junior Jordy Williamsz (Melbourne, Australia) ran the fastest anchor leg of any team in the race and the Wildcats finished second in the relay with a time of 9:34.36. Williamsz produced a split of 3:58.94 for the final 1600 meters of the relay and Villanova came in just a half-second behind Oregon.
