In the second game in the first day of the University of South Florida Under Armour Invitational the Wildcats got back to their winning ways over the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles in their 6-2 victory. The six runs marked the highest amount Villanova has scored all season. Interestingly enough, this marks the second straight game the Wildcats have played a team with the Eagles for a nickname, Eastern Michigan and Florida Gulf Coast.
In the opening game of the University of South Florida's Under Armour Invitational the Villanova Wildcats faced off against the Eastern Michigan Eagles. Although the `Cats couldn't grab the victory, the game was competitive throughout and the first Eagles runs didn't come until the sixth inning of the game. The final score was 3-1 Eastern Michigan.
The Wildcats began their three-day weekend at the Cal Lutheran Invitational in Thousand Oaks, Calif. by playing both CSU Bakersfield and Azusa Pacific. It was the first two of six games the Wildcats will play this weekend. In the first game of the day Villanova lost to CSU Bakersfield 11-5 and beat Azusa Pacific 14-12.
The Villanova women's lacrosse team (0-2) will host their first home game of the 2015 season as they host the Bucknell Bison (2-2) at 3:30 in the Villanova Stadium. Head Coach Julie Young and her team will take to the field following the Villanova men's lacrosse match against Delaware which will begin at noon.
Junior third baseman Kevin Jewitt (West Chester, Pa.) delivered a pair of run-scoring singles and Villanova (2-5) got strong pitching from senior Josh Harris (Streamwood, Ill.) and two relievers in a 4-2 victory over Chicago State (1-6) on Friday afternoon. The game was the first of seven that the Wildcats are playing in the Port Charlotte area over the next nine days.
